Our blog is about travel, but it’s called skunkshot. You may wonder why? It may be difficult to guess, but easy to explain. When going on a trip to the distant corners of the world, we are eager to learn everything about the country we are going to visit. We read tons of literature, study maps and buy different excursions, but we often forget about routine, but essential and important things – our safety. Visiting exotic places is always a thrilling adventure, full of new impressions and feelings, but it may also bear a lot of dangers to our health if we forget about simplest arrangements to the trip.

The following measures are a must before any trip to a distant country, especially if it’s an African country or the territory situated in the tropics:

Vaccination against all the diseases common in the area you are going to visit
You have to take the meds you usually take, especially if you suffer from chronic diseases
If you are allergic to some herbs or plants, learn whether they grow in this area
If you are going to visit a sunny country, make sure you have sun screening creams and lotions, as well as sunglasses
Inquire what your medical expense insurance covers
Learn whether there is the embassy of your country in the region you want to visit
